It didn’t come with any cable lock with snap ring and the shift Cable tab needs to be longer to line up straight over the shifter lever it would be nice if they would give some insight as to the wiring of the starter generator to the predator motor.
Swapped the Predator 459cc into my 1996 6-seater ezgo. The swap was super easy, only took ~ 6 hours, and the cart runs around 35-40mph now. Absolutely a blast to drive!
All the parts in the kit installed well using the instructions provided. I found a Honda choke assembly that worked perfect.
Would recommend Vegas carts systems to anyone with basic skills.
It's the best alternative to the stock Ezgo boat anchor, cradle and engine. The hardest part of the swap was removing the OE engine and cradle. The install was easy. There was a few adjustments I had to make to the Vegascarts.com kit, but I expected that. Nothing out of line. Very happy overall. Thanks Vegascarts.com. The candy bar included in the kit was awesome, lol 👌
I used the harbor freight 460 over the 420. Not all of the parts in the kit work for the 460 as I suspected would be the case. I really like the predator 460 pressurized oil system over the 420 oil slinging system. In particular the supplied exhaust will not work as it is in line with the drive belt so I had to use the factory exhaust supplied with the engine. The throttle bracket likewise had to be fabricated from scratch as the 420 is different from the 460 engine design. The factory choke had to be replaced with a solid wire choke and new bracket fabricated. I knew this going into the build but the engine cradle bolts up and fit perfectly. Well designed and constructed. There is no vibration dampening on these engine cradles so Im curious to see how long it holds up. The 460 turns the 2001 EZGO workhorse into a literal beast! Lots of torque and power to spare.
Just finished my 1998 Ezgo txt 459 swap. Used the Vegas carts 420 kit. Fairly easy but did modify half of the 459 gas tank bracket and the generator mount I got from Vegas carts to mount the generator on top so I could access the oil dipstick and make oil changes easier. Used a micro switch to cut the ignition to make use of my foot pedal and keep the original Ezgo dash switch. I left the electric start on the engine but don’t use it as the starter generator has plenty of power to turn over the 459. Glad I made the swap and the engine starts like a champ and has a ton of torque and power. Wow is all I can say!
With the installation instructions this kit was a breeze. Some mechanical knowledge and common sense help as a few steps needed a little more modifications then what was specified and I did a few extra precautions myself with the throttle cable and spring.. I do wish the exhaust was a little better set up and I may modify more @ a later time but it is fully functional.
Everything bolts right up. Literally had the cradle installed in less than an hour. Predator 420 bolted right up, makes it easy for alignment and belt tension adjustments.
Overall the kit works good, however, I think the front mount needs to be revised to have more adjustment, I as well as other have had to use a bunch of washers to get it to line up correctly
Purchased for my 2002 TXT EZGO. The pictures didn't align with the new design of the 459cc Predator. There were 2 parts that I had to grind down to make it work... The carburetor flange with the vacuum line was the main one that took a lot of time. Possibly a mistake on my behalf, but it would not fit anyway I put it. The kit is a solid kit and my mine has been running for a few weeks. I would purchase another one given the opportunity to do it again.
The flex pipe for the muffler got hot and broke within the first two weeks. The motor pan mounts squeak Non-Stop. Pretty irritating. Other than that it got my golf cart back on the road with more power and more speed. If I had it to do over again I would do it. I would have left a video of it operating but currently waiting on different exhaust pieces.
overall the kit worked as described how ever i did have to modify a few things.
1 used larger grade 8 hardware to mount the plate in the rear.
2 front mount would not work per the instructions it interfered with some brackets that held the shift cables on my workhorse and the link was to short. i turned it backwards and upside down it worked fine.
3 I added a stiffener to the muffler bracket may have non ben necessary,
4 cart would not shift even with the engine all the back, I the spring on the OEM drive clutch and it works fine now.
5 you are on your own geting the choke to work, it required a longer cable and fabricating a bracket.it would be a nice addition to the kit.
overall the performance of cart with the 459 is exceptional!!! the Robyn 350 pales in comparison.
Product was neatly packed and organized. Accidentally ordered wrong product. I reached out to customer service, and they switched it before it shipped with no issues. Very satisfied with Vegas Carts! I am in the process of assembly, and so far, everything fits right. Thank you!
Vegas Cart install kit is not a drop in kit as suggested. Many modifications still needed such as WorkHorse frame cutting and welding, tilt leveling for recommended Predator engine, choke arm mods and extra purchasing of choke cable, throttle mod and more purchasing of arms. I do this type of work fairly regular and expected for the amount of money it would require a lot less time and mods/adjustments and additional purchases. Think rebuilding Robin engine would have been the way to go.
Great kit and easy to install. It takes a little bit of mechanical aptitude to make everything work but It's pretty straight forward. Once it's in and everything is working correctly, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
Pretty easy install. I have an automotive lift which makes it quite a bit easier than crawling around on the floor. I am still working on the choke cable alignment. The Predator choke will not work with your air filter box, Total conflict. I had to rework the choke lever so that it pulled from the opposite side, this also allows you to pull the choke to engage and push to release. The EZGO pedal mechanism has too much travel as compared to what is required for the Predator so I fabricated an adjustable pedal stop to keep the travel limited and cable from pulling out. I also fabricated a bracket to install the original starter/generator, which allows for easy start as well as recharge of battery and second option to start motor. All in all a fun project . I think I have another cart waiting for a boost in power.
Had a different throttle set up than the instructions for my 2006 txt but was able to improvise using a piece of the Predator linkage kit that was removed anyway
Belt was too short. Clutch bolt too short.
The worst was there nothing provided to hook up a choke. The Predator engine will not start without a choke. Instructions were not the best. Other than that everything was fine.
Have ordered another belt. Still working on a choke solution. So thanks a lot. Will not recommend anyone buy one of your kits.
Had to do alot of modifying to this kit. I was not impressed with it at all for the money spent. The hiem joint that connected the motor bracket to the golf cart was a horrible idea every time you shift from forward to reverse it would tilt the motor so much and slam the moment you moved. I modifyed it so it connected in a wishbone style and works completly fine now. I would never buy again and will make my own now on my future projects.
Received the kit way quicker than expected and to say the parts are of the utmost quality is almost an understatement. Thanks guys looking forward to getting this build going.
